Megan Fox Killing Boys: A Suprisingly Good Idea

I should have known this would work. Granted, I thought the concept of a cheerleader possesed by a demon which makes her kill the guys in her high school was a REALLY cheesy concept. Plus, it was starring Megan Fox, which meant she would be sexing up the camera half naked to appeal to all the guys out there. But, it came from the delightful mind of Diablo Cody, who wowed us all with Juno.

Shame on me for doubting her.

My Road to Becoming a Cake Eater

Thanks in large part to Kristin Stewart's success with Twilight, a little film called The Cake Eaters gained lots of publicity. It is Mary Stuart Masterson's directorial debut, boasting a cast of veteran (Bruce Dern, Elizabeth Ashley) and young talent (Stewart, Aaron Stanford). Upon viewing the trailer, my curiosity was peaked by Stewart, who plays a teenage girl afflicted with Friedreichs Ataxia, a terminal neuro-muscular disorder. I knew what a great actress she was, but I thought her performance in Twilight was not up to par with her talent. The Cake Eaters looked like she was REALLY acting, so I decided to give it a shot.

WB wins case, but loses "Superman" rights

On Wednesday U.S. District Court Judge Stephen G. Larson ruled that Warner Brothers and DC Comics did not make any "sweetheart" deals in regards to the rights of Superman. Warner Borthers gave DC Comics fair market value for the property. As a result the plaintiffs, the family of Jerome Siegel who co-created Superman, can only sue DC Comics exclusively for profits made from the movies and television shows produced by Warner Brothers.

Warner Brothers viewed the case as a victory despite the judge also ruling that Warner Brothers ownership of the Superman character will go back to the the Siegel family in 2013. This will force Warner Brothers to put a Superman film into production by 2011 at the latest. 

As a Superman fan I am neutral in this situation and feel as if no one loses but DC comics. I only hope though that the Siegel family is able to make a deal with Warner Borthers so that they may retain the rights to the character and continue to produce a series which will be a sequel to Smallville, still the highest rated show on the CW.

"Big Fan" Should Have Big Chances Come Award Season

"Big Fan" is screenwriter Robert Siegel's directorial premiere and it looks to be as bold a statement as his previous script, "The Wrestler." in the film Patton Oswalt plays Paul, a huge Giants fan who meets one of his favorite players at a strip club. But do to a misunderstanding the player assaults Paul which put shim in a coma for three days. e is now left with the decision of whether or not to sue his favorite player because it has the potential to hurt the team. The film looks like it dances somewhere between dark comedy and introspective drama. All in all it looks interesting and maybe with this years 10 nomination mark for the Academy Awards, it might have a shot of being in contention.
