"Wake in Fright" Gets Second Chance

“Wake in Fright” (known abroad as “Outback) is a 1971 Aussie horror film that, although originally didn’t do well amongst its Australian viewers, is finally loved amongst its own. In other countries the movie did well but for some reason this wasn’t the case in Australia. It was recently shown at the Cannes film festival last month, which was when its audience had a change of heart.

Among the people who were able to experience the film, the movie was able to summon passionate emotions from a certain Martin Scorsese. This was back in 1971. It was a good thing he liked it seeing as he was the reason the Cannes film festival chose to screen the movie once more.
