About Festival

The Hamptons International Film Festival was founded to celebrate the Independent film - long, short, fiction and documentary - and to introduce a unique and varied spectrum of international films and filmmakers to our audiences. The festival is committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives, with the hope that these programs will enlighten audiences, provide invaluable exposure for filmmakers and present inspired entertainment for all. The 14th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival was held Wednesday, October 18 through Sunday, October 22, 2006.

The film's reception

Highlights:

Director, PHIL DONAHUE

Body Of War, winner of the festival's audience award for best documentary, was co-directed by Phil Donahue - yes, that Phil Donahue. The story of a soldier in Iraq who becomes paralyzed from the chest down is passionately represented in the film, and Donahue was on hand to talk about the ways in which the media has depicted the war in Iraq, how the U.S. wound up in Iraq, and the current political climate.

Also join us as we speak with Helen Hood Scheer and team as they speak about the experience of making the competitive jump-roping documentary JUMP!, and Andrew Rossi, director of A Table in Heaven, a documentary which profiles the life and work of one of New York's most famous restaurateurs, Sirio Maccioni.
