The South by Southwest Film Festival takes place in Austin, Texas, every spring. The festival, which grew out of the SXSW Music Festival, one of the largest music festivals in the U.S., has become one of the world's premiere film festivals know for its selection of independent gems and up-and-coming first-time filmmakers. The festival screens about 150 - 200 of the best independent films produced during the previous year, as well as works from established directors who have inspired the latest generation of filmmakers.

FRONTRUNNERS-Caroline Suh, Erika Frankel
Highlights:
It's hard to run for office even in high school. And the campaign for student body president at Stuyvesant, perhaps the most prestigious public high school in the country, is almost as sophisticated as any presidential election. Candidates must choose running mates, navigate primaries, write political platforms, perform in televised debates, shake as many hands as possible, and win newspaper endorsements. But unlike presidential candidates, they also have to do their homework, take their SATs and write their college applications.FRONTRUNNERS, a documentary feature, follows the elections at the ultra-competitive Stuyvesant High School in New York City, and explores how politics works at its most nascent level.

Caroline Suh has produced numerous documentaries for PBS, the History Channel, A & E, and the Sundance Channel, among others. FrontRunners is the first feature documentary she has directed. She is currently directing a feature documentary about the Korean Table Tennis Team's journey to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, examining Asian nationalism through one of its most popular sports. She also episode produced the Sundance series Iconoclasts for Radical Media. Recently, Caroline produced 'Antietam,' part of the History Channel's 'Ten Days' series, as well as Final Cut, about Michael Cimino's infamous debacle 'Heaven's Gate,' which screened at the Toronto and Berlin Festivals, and at New York's Film Forum.
