MTV's profile of Iraqi film student Muthana Mohmed led to his internship on a Hollywood set, with NINA DAVENPORT documenting the process. As Muthana adapts to radically different surroundings, miscommunications and power struggles become an allegory for ongoing tensions between the US and Iraq. Davenport describes how this extraordinary series of circumstances came to be, and her moral dilemmas as a documentarian faced with direct appeals from her subject.
