NYFF '08: Sally Hawkins

Effervescent Effort

Highlights:

Sally Hawkins charmed us with her starring role in Mike Leigh’s new aptly titled movie HAPPY-GO-LUCKY. Though her character Poppy is in her 30’s, she still regards life with the same enthusiasm and naïveté of a child. Hawkins' mesmerizing performance earned her the Best Actress award at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and continues to delight audiences here in New York.

Here she talks about the challenges and joys of playing a woman so deeply in love with being alive.
