At the Intercontinental Hotel in Toronto, we caught up with Ari Folman, director of WALTZ WITH BASHIR, an animated documentary/fiction hybrid based on the director’s harrowing personal experiences as a young Israeli soldier caught up in the hostilities with Lebanon in the early ’80s.

Art Folman was born in Haifa, Israel. He is a director, screenwriter and composer who has created the films Comfortably Numb ('91), Saint Clara ('96), Made in Israel ('01) and Waltz with Bashir ('08).
