We sat down with Fernando Meirelles to talk about his bold new film BLINDNESS, which explores the human condition when faced with devastation. A former Vision Award winner at the Toronto Film Festival for his 2002 film City of God, Meirelles's new work is adapted from the novel by Jose Saramago and boasts a star-studded cast.

Fernando Meirelles was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and studied architecture at the University of São Paulo. His films include Maids (01), City of God (02), which won a Visions Award – Special Citation at the 2002 Festival, The Constant Gardener (05) and Blindness (08).
