German director Marco Kreuzpaintner talked with us about KRABAT, his adaptation of Otfried Preußler's award-winning book. When a young orphan starts work at a mill in 17th-century Europe, he is shocked to discover his peers are actually studying under the Miller, a practitioner of the dark arts.

Marco Kreuzpaintner was born in Rosenheim, Germany, and made his first short film, Entering Reality, in 1998. His other works include the short film Der Atemkünstler (00) and the feature films Breaking Loose (03), Summer Storm (04), Trade (07) and Krabat (08).
