MISSING MOVIES

Minnie Driver recommends movies on this site and yet no "Beautiful," Minnie Driver directed by the excellent Sally Field and co-starring "Chasing Amy's" Joey Lauren Adams as well as the Pepsi Girl Hallie Kate Eisenberg. Driver and Eisenberg do a great job of sharing a pout; this contains beauty pageant contestant spoofing perhaps even broader than
Miss Congeniality" while allowing actresses opportunities for fine performances. Would actually end up on my psych up shelf with sports movies like "Blue Crush" and "Bring It On" and the funniest play I've ever seen adapted into a nearly equally funny movie: "Noises Off". Yet another film that if it's not here, it should be along with "Dead Again" a Kenneth Branagh/Emma Thompson suspense thriller with one of Robin William's best performances and "200 Cigarettes" a tour de force for Paul Rudd, Courtney Love, Martha Plimpton, Kate Hudson, Casey Affleck and so many others -- if you're not going out on New Year's Eve, watch "200 Cigarettes" to see what you're missing. And how about "A Hard's Day Night" pure essence of rock fun. Typing Emma Thompson into the Tag box brought back memories of "The Tall Guy," the only film where Jeff Goldblum is convincing as a romantic lead.
