FilmCatcher invades Canada, ala Canadian Bacon (RIP John Candy)

The road trip has begun. Piled 5 high in a your-mom’s-minivan-from-1988, we are striking out towards the great north, to Canada, land of moose and beaver, land of health-care and kids in the hall, land of… those are all the stereotypes I can think of.

So there are 5 people on this voyage:

Me, your humble narrator and funkmaster general, Kirk James Faulkner.

Cristina Garza, Master and Commander of the good ship FilmCatcher and as we are quickly learning, horrible back-seat driver.

Damon G Smith, pilot of our vessel who keeps threatening to turn the car around if we don’t shut the hell up.

Ana Maria Hermida, who brought an entire bag of red bulls, on which people keep asking me to “take it easy”.

Fernando Frias, international man of mystery and professional Borat look-alike.

We are all going to spend the night in Niagara Falls. Hopefully we’ll find a mystery to solve, but if not we might just get tipsy and decide to enter into some weird kind of group marriage and have a wacky honey-moon.

My job at the festival is going to end up being a lot of in-door work; uploading, graphics, ironing, mopping, whatevs. In order to curb any boredom, I am gonna be dropping mad blogs on all y’all. Tune in, turn on and catch film.
