That's enough punishment alreadyI was only mildly into comics as a kid, but my favorite character by far was the bitter and wounded Frank Castle, a man whose family had been murdered and whose search for vengance had turned him into a hard wired killing machine. So i was excited when, in 2004, this character was brought to life on the silver screen by director Jonathan Hensleigh and actor Thomas Jane. I remember going to the movie (by myself, I couldn't get anyone to go with me) and sitting alone in an almost empty theater thinking about how much I actually did want to kill John Travolta.
Aside from repeat showings on FX, I feel it is safe to say the first Punisher was a flop. Why oh why then is there a new Punisher opening this weekend? Why is Hollywood insisting on rolling out these Comic Book movies that were already made just a few years ago (Ed Norton's Hulk, I'm talking to you as well here). Not that i don't want to see my favorite story made right, but Punisher: War Zone, you don't look like a step in the right direction. I'll keep my fingers crossed and my gun loaded.
