Towelhead (F.K.A. Nothing Is Private)

It's amazing how hilarious this movie is without stealing from the drama of a young girl who gets molested. The comedic elements are what set this film apart from others stories about a teen coping with identity and abuse.

I didn't realize when I saw it that this is from the same writer as American Beauty, who is also the creator of Six Feet Under (never watched it) and the new series True Blood on HBO. Just saw an episode of the latter, and it's not my thing. Vampires are so 10 (maybe 15) years ago. And the plot is stupid. So... I'm glad I was unaware of this when I watched Towelhead because it probably would've tainted my expectations.

Seriously, some people found it mostly uncomfortable... but I'm a girl, who also happened to go through puberty during the Bush I Persian Gulf War. There's more similarities I can identify with, but what's great is that through all the ups and downs, she's not a victim in this movie. I definitely recommend it!
