The Heartwarmingest Christmas Movies

I love the holiday season, I really do, but I hate watching the typical movie schmaltz that fills the airwaves at this time of year.  I don't care what anyone says, these are the movies I want to watch come December:

A Christmas Story
My all time holiday favourite.  It's a mainstay in a lot of Canadian homes, but I don't think it has achieved much more than cult status in the US.  Am I wrong?  This fifties period film is as funny and touching as one could hope a family film to be.  The director, recently deceased Bob Clark, is the same auteur behind such classics as Black Christmas and Porky's !

Bad Santa
Vulgar to the extreme, this modern take of the heartwarming stories of men redeemed should leave you laughing until you are in tears.  Sure, it's all jokes about alcoholism and whoring, but who's to say what the true meaning of Christmas is?

Die Hard and Die Hard II
These take place just before Christmas plus they are awesome and explodey.

Christmas Evil
After discovering a loopy Santa seducing and murdering his mother, a scarred boy grows into a lonely psychotic man.  His life is barely held together by the safe harbour of his job at the toy factory until that too falls apart.  And the logical way of dealing with a job loss near the holidays is to don a red suit and begin violently punishing neighbourhood children who have made the 'naughty' list.  Perhaps the finest of all the Christmas themed horror movies, Christmas Evil is remarkably deranged. And the ending! My lord, what is happening with that ending?!

I am a real sophisticate.
