Gone Baby Gone

Review of Gone Baby Gone

Award winner for "Most Unlikely Career Turnaround"

It turns out Ben Affleck is a far better director than he has ever been as an actor, which is awesome because he is a fucking horrible actor. His directing debut is based on a novel by Dennis LeHane, the same writer behind Mystic River, and follows Boston private investigator Patrick Kenzie as he searches for the missing daughter of a drug addled mess. On the heals of The Assassination of Jesse James little brother Casey Affleck again proves his mettle as a great actor, and Amy Ryan's Oscar nominated support performance is worth all of the praise it has received.

Ben Affleck's screenplay has enough intelligence and sharp turns to be on par with some of the better films of David Mamet. This is a great work of modern noir and, for the first time ever, I am interested in seeing what Ben Affleck will do next.

Hmmm. A quick online search reveals that Ben's next gig will be starring in He's Just Not That Into You. Uh oh.
