Review of A Clockwork OrangeCheck the Clock.A very stylized film - but not expecting much else from Stanley Kubrick. Not much except violence and sex...to the tune of "Singin' in the Rain"? Yes, that sums up the experience of "A Clockwork Orange" chronicling the life of a young hoodlum named Alex through the period of violence and rebellion, to his being conditioned to be a 'normal' citizen, and back again, the film is very confusing at times with a language all its own. It drags on over the nearly 2 and a half hours, bit by bit, and really makes you wonder what really can transform a person and make them want to change. Really - nothing - except that person's choice. Nothing is as effective and long lasting as moral choice - the choice to be kind and decent, as opposed to those that 'just want to watch the world burn'. The difference is - some end up in a world of pain and loss - like Alex, and others (even though their desires are simple) seem to get all they want. A very 'film school' picture.
