Review of The Dead Girl

Don't go hitchhiking...

This film was fantastic! Apart from the stellar cast (Marcia Gay Harden, Kerry Washington, Rose Byrne, Brittany Murphy, Josh Brolin, Mary Beth Hurt, Mary Steenburgen, Toni Collette, Giovanni Ribisi, etc.), the story was a tremendous roller coaster ride! I am still thinking about it a few days later and it actually kept me up the entire night after I saw the film! The DVD extras were a pleasant surprise as well - shedding much insight into the film. It was at times creepy and disturbing, and ghastly, but also touching and heartfelt! I am still debating whether or not to buy this film, as I'm not sure if I can sit through it again, but this definitely was a treasure among the recent rentals and independent films that I've viewed. On average, I view one movie a day, possibly two, so that's around 10-14 movies a week, and this film was superb. From the writing, to the editing - nothing was left out that was pertinent, and nothing was left in that wasn't interesting or necessary. The direction was also top notch, and I will further be interested in the career or Karen Moncrieff! A+!
