Review of American GangsterBlue MagicI have my suspicions that this film will give Denzel another Academy nomination, and it will be deserved for his captivating portrayal of Frank Lucas. I sit in doubt of whether or not I, as the viewer, should have remorse or sympathize with his character's violent ways. Yes, his mentor/father figure influenced his decision to continue the "family tradition", but I couldn't clap or rally for his triumph as a druglord. The performance and execution of his part is all the praise I can give it, and that is the bottom line of this tragic story. I am sure I will come back and reflect further on this movie, because there is always something you remember the next go around that didn't make in it the review. Great piece of work. His character was flawed (and to a great degree, flawless in his distributing his "product"), praised, and finally, convicted for his passion to be the boss at all cost.
