Review of Cloverfield

Cloverfield Was Good, But Would Have Been SO Much Better Had I Paid Attn to Viral Marketing!

So, did the movie live up to the hype? Yes and no... maybe. I'm going to say probably a yes for those who took the time to participate/partake in the viral marketing of the film -- I knew some of the background and theories, but not all -- and I feel that had I paid more attention, I would have probably left the theater sort of thrilled. There are def. small elements of the film, whether it be a t-shirt or something off to the side of the screen, that are connected to all that viral marketing. Honestly, I sort of want to watch it again so I can get my questions answered. And thats the thing --if you didn't read anything about it before hand -- you're probably not going to understand a lot -- such as why or how -- and those are sort of important questions to have answered. Was it scary? Not really. And the Blair Witch feel in the beginning (before the action gets started) was REALLY annoying. I felt that the beginning lagged a tad bit. Overall, I would recommend it to others, but it might be a good idea to check out some of the Cloverfield fan sites prior to viewing the film. Other than that I'm excited for Pt. 2 ! (There's going to be a part 2, right???)
