Romanian CinemaShining Through a Long, Dark Night: Romanian Cinema, Then and Now Following a string of critical acclaim in recent years for the films The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, 12:08 East of Bucharest, The Paper Will Be Blue and last year’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, Romania has emerged as one of the world’s most creative and cutting-edge filmmaking cultures. The Film Society of Lincoln Center is currently offering New Yorkers the rare chance to delve deep into that country’s rich artistic tradition in Shining Through a Long, Dark Night: Romanian Cinema, Then and Now, at the Walter Reade Theater, April 16–27. We stopped by the series to catch some movies and chat with some filmmakers. Check out our interviews with director Tudor Giurgiu and filmmaker Ruxandra Zenide. Don't miss our reviews of 12:08 East of Bucharest and Sunday at Six. Posted on 04/30/08 by: FCFeatures
