A Jihad For Love
Film SynopsisFilmed without permission in eight countries, this sensitive documentary captures the lives of gay and lesbian Muslims throughout the world. From Iran to France, Jihad For Love tells the story of individuals torn between their faith and their sexuality. The title, incidentally, is not ironic but instead embraces the true meaning of jihad: "struggle." Get Involved |

Plot Summary
PARVEZ SHARMA, frustrated by the stereotype of Islam that's typically presented by Western media, reclaims the word Jihad ("inner struggle") in this documentary illuminating the stories of several gay Muslims. Homosexuality is outlawed in the nations of many of his subjects, so condemnation and persecution feature prominently in the doc- but so do faith, hope, and, of course, love.
